FAQ’S

I have just gotten a ticket, what do I need to do?

Most courts will send you a courtesy notice usually, 2-3 weeks after you receive your ticket. The notice will let you know the amount of the ticket and if you can attend Traffic School. Make sure you pay your ticket by your due date, which will be on your notice. You may NOT receive a courtesy notice from the court. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to take care of your ticket by the due date.

How do I know that the court will accept Great Price Traffic School’s Certificate of Completion?

Great Price Traffic School is licensed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. A certificate of completion from our school will be accepted by all courts and counties in California.

How does California Traffic Violator School work?

Our course consists of 12 lessons and a final exam. The lessons are made up of reading material and videos. The final exam is a combination of 25 true/false or multiple-choice questions.

We will process your completion to the court electronically after you pass the final exam. You will be able to print a Certificate of Completion for your records. Once the court has received and reviewed your completion, they will notify the DMV.

The DMV will then mask (hide) the points on your driving record. No one, including the insurance companies, will see your ticket.

Why do we ask our students to answer security questions?

The California Department of Motor Vehicles requires that we ask security questions throughout the course, to make sure you are the student taking the course.

Please make sure you write down your answers to the 4 questions, so that you remember them each time you log into the course. We suggest you keep it simple, no capitals or abbreviations, etc.

How long will the online traffic school course take?

That is completely up to you. For folks who can understand and retain information quickly, you are permitted to take the course as quickly as you like. For other folks who may need to read and re-read sections to get a firm grasp of the information provided, there is no time limit. We provide you unlimited log-ins, so you can come and go as you like.

What if I don't pass the final exam?

The California Department of Motor Vehicles allows students two attempts to pass the final exam, however most students pass the exam the first time. The final exam is “open book” allowing you to review any material in the course before answering a question.

Great Price Traffic School does not charge any additional fees to take the final exam a second time. If you happen to fail the final exam twice, the California DMV requires you to register and take this course again. We will not issue refunds for students who fail the final exam twice.

What if I hold a Commercial Driver License?

You may be eligible to take a Traffic Violator course if you hold a Commercial driver license so long as:

  • You received the ticket on or after January 1, 2013
  • You were not driving a commercial vehicle when you received the ticket
  • You have received a referral from your court to attend Traffic Violator School
  • The court may not order that the record of conviction be kept confidential. However, the conviction shall not be added to a violation point count for purposes of determining whether a driver is presumed to be a negligent operator under Section 12810.5

What happens when I complete the course?

Once you successfully pass the final exam, you will be asked to complete a course evaluation. Great Price Traffic School is a leader in the traffic school industry because we listen to the honest feedback from our students.

While you are completing the course evaluation, we are electronically sending your certificate of completion to the court you selected during registration. Once the course processes your completion, they will notify the DMV.
